I Have a Confession to Make: I Eat Lean Cuisine for Lunch…

Lean Cuisine

I sometimes eat Lean Cuisine for lunch. I know, I know. I write a blog about being more healthy. I talk about organic foods for goodness sake. And yet at least a few times a week, I go into my freezer at lunch time and take out a Lean Cuisine. I don’t even feel guilty about it (anymore!)

Why do I do it?

For a few really good reasons:

  • It’s easy. I’m working all day, so the last thing I want to do is take too much time out for lunch. Lean Cuisine is quick and easy to make and eat. I can be done with lunch in under 15 minutes when I want to be.
  • It’s usually around 300 calories or so. This is probably my biggest reason. I love food. I eat really big dinners. When I make my own lunch, I ALWAYS end up eating more than I should, and I gain weight. When I eat Lean Cuisine multiple times a week, I lose weight. Wouldn’t you do the same?
  • Many of them taste pretty good. There are a lot of different choices out there. I’ve tried many of them, and have found quite a few that I really like. Right now, the Vermont White Cheddar Mac & Cheese and Ricotta Cheese & Spinach Ravioli are two of my favorites. Don’t get me wrong. There were quite a few I didn’t really like either, but I just won’t buy those again.
  • Some items are Non-GMO or organic. This one isn’t really the reason that I do it, but I love the fact that some of the meals are now Non-GMO and/or organic. It makes me feel that Lean Cuisine is going on in the right direction and makes me feel a little bit better about eating it.

Now that I’ve given you the reasons why I do it…want to know why I used to feel guilty about it?

I have quite a few reasons. First of all, I am home every day. I should take the 5-10 minutes to make something,…even a sandwich would be better than a frozen meal, right? I don’t even want to look at the ingredients in them, as I’m sure they aren’t the best. Plus, even though they’re low calorie, I’m sure that it’s not the healthiest.

On top of that, it’s cooked in plastic and covered in plastic. I know that can’t be good for me.

I don’t feel guilty anymore though, and you shouldn’t either.

No one, and I mean no one, can do absolutely everything that you’re “supposed” to do. Unless of course you have an unlimited budget and unlimited time. And who has those?

So it’s perfectly OK to do things that some other people might not do. I love using this as an example. Some people eat all organic. Others don’t eat organic all. Some only eat organic for the dirty dozen.  None of them are the right thing to do, or the wrong thing to do.  It’s just a matter of what people want to do.

You have to be you. Do what makes you happy, and what makes your life better.

To me, having Lean Cuisine a few times a week makes my life easier. It sure makes my weight better, and I am perfectly fine with it. It’s being ME, and that’s what I want.

Enjoy,
