As you read and learn more about products that are good and bad for your family, you might want to start changing the types of things you buy and use in your household.
But the problem is you can’t just one day throw out everything you have and buy everything new that now fits in with what you’re looking for. It just isn’t feasible for most people. Plus, even if you could afford it, where do you start?
That’s why I love the MightyFix from MightyNest.
My sister actually got this as a gift for me this past holiday season. So for an entire year, every month I get one new product that I can use and be happy about using.
It’s a great way to slowly bring better things into your household, and it doesn’t cost a lot. It’s great as a gift, or for something to do for yourself and your family.
They guarantee that all of their products are: No BPA, no Phthalates, and have no Lead. They find products that you’ll be happy to use.
Since my sister purchased the subscription, I’ve now received:
3-Wool Dryer Balls (mine were all white)
I’ve been using wool dryer balls in the dryer for a few years now.
So when I first saw the monthly MightyFix, I was a bit disappointed.
I was hoping for something new, but just got more of something that I already had.
And really…how many dryer balls do you need? I already had 6.
Well, it’s been a few months now, and I’m a bit surprised to say that I was wrong.
I use these often now.
What happens is that when I take my laundry out of the dryer, inevitably, one or two balls come with it.
Even when I try really hard not to take any of them.
I don’t always go through my laundry basket so fast…so when it’s time do do the next load in the dryer, I used to have to go through the laundry basket to find the other balls. Now I’ll just take one from the “extras” pile I have.
When I eventually put my clean laundry away, I’ll find the balls and put them back in the “extra” pile.
I still really enjoy using dryer balls instead of dryer sheets. It’s less expensive, doesn’t use a chemical scent, and takes a little less time to dry my clothes.
I really don’t know what to say about stainless steel straws.
These are the most recent item I’ve received from MightyFix, and at first glance I laughed. I mean, who would use a stainless steel straw?
But in theory, I think it can be nice. I drink lemon water and I know it’s supposed to be bad for your teeth, so I’ve been thinking about using a straw to drink it. It creates a lot of garbage using a different straw every day, so I can see why a stainless steel option would be good.
It even came with a small cleaner for the straws.
I’ll probably try them out soon, and see if I like them.
This is definitely the first month I’ve gotten something though, and wondered what they were thinking.
Reuseable Produce Bags
I’ve really liked the reuseable produce bags.
I like that there are different color tags on each so that you can have each one be for something specific if you’d like.
I will admit, I use one of them for something that it wasn’t intended for.
I needed a new lingerie bag, and when I got these (especially since there were so many of them!) I figured it was perfect.
So one of them is now used for when I put bras in the washer. The rest are still used for produce though, and I’m happy with them.
Bee’s Wrap (although mine came with 2)
I go through a decent amount of plastic wrap, so I like the idea of Bee’s wrap.
I haven’t used them as often as I should, but I think part of the reason is that I’m just not used to it.
When I need to cover something, I usually just go to the plastic wrap and don’t think anything of it.
When I do think about it though, it’s a good option.
You’d need a decent amount though to stop using plastic wrap completely though.
Organic Dish Cloths (I got 2 packs of this, so 6 cloths)
I love the design of the organic dish cloths. I’m really glad it came with 2 packs though. 6 organic dish cloths will last me for a while. They’re hanging on my oven right now, so that when something needs to be cleaned up, I can easily get to them.
I love that when they get dirty they can just go in the laundry pile, and get washed and used again.
I know that when I use them I’m using less paper towels, and that makes me feel good.
I also received lunch skins (reusable bags for sandwiches), but couldn’t find them on the site anymore.
I don’t normally eat lunch outside of the house, so I haven’t used these yet.
I love the idea though. If you bring sandwiches to work (or school), you’ll go through a lot of sandwich bags in a year!
This is a great way to cut down on the waste, and still keep your sandwiches nice and clean until you’re ready to eat them.
If I wasn’t eating lunch at home every day, I’d definitely be trying these out.
If you were thinking of getting your own MightyFix, they have a great deal going on right now:
