Would You Buy a “Simulated” Gemstone in a piece of Jewelry? (I just bought a Simulated Mystic Rainbow Topaz Ring)

Would you ever buy a piece of jewelry with a simulated stone?

For mystic rainbow topaz, it means this. There is no such thing as “mystic rainbow topaz” that you can find anywhere.

They take a clear topaz and treat it with a very thin layer of chemicals, giving it a unique rainbow color.

One great thing about a simulated stone is that since they use a very inexpensive stone, the price of the finished piece of jewelry is usually pretty expensive.

I really liked the colors of the mystic rainbow topaz. While on a cruise to the Caribbean, I purchased a very similar color necklace – although I think they just called it rainbow topaz.

I figure that as long as I like the color and the way the piece of jewelry looks, who cares if it’s the natural color of the stone, or if it was enhanced to make it look nicer?

The important part to me is that I like the way it looks.

So when I saw this ring while shopping on Amazon, I didn’t think twice. At $13.95, it was a steal.

I also loved that there are over 300 reviews, and most of them are really good. What is even better is a lot of them posted pictures of what their rings looked like on, so I could see what it really looked like.

I was happy with it, and am looking forward to getting it tomorrow.

My Mystic Rainbow Topaz Ring

What’s even better is that since I’m a member of Amazon Prime, not only did I get free 2-day shipping, but free returns. So if for whatever reason this ring doesn’t fit, or I just don’t like it, I can return it without having to pay to do so.

UPDATE:  7/21:  The ring came today.  I really like it!  It’s very petite, but I knew that by reading the comments.  It’s really pretty and when the light hits it just right it’s even nicer.  It was totally worth the money and does NOT look like a $14 ring at all.  I’m wearing the ring right now, and am so glad I bought it!

Enjoy,
